Almost 55,000 families have so far been harmed by the storms, with their belongings and shelters damaged.

Heavy rains over the last seven days have compounded the extremely difficult living conditions of the hundreds of thousands of uprooted Palestinians in the territory, according to humanitarian organizations.

"Horrendous" Night Poses Severe Threats

A spokesman characterized the previous night's conditions as "awful", with rain so severe that as much as 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the streets.

"Last night was really horrendous for the residents. The storms were so intense... And the winds were so powerful," noted the representative.

Authorities voice extreme worry that young ones residing in temporary structures in wet attire will contract hypothermia and other illnesses.

Casualties and Widespread Destruction

The health ministry have stated that one baby has succumbed from hypothermia and at least 11 other people have lost their lives in roof cave-ins due to the storms.

Additional accounts suggest a higher number of casualties. Spokespeople said that numerous homes had fully given way and dozens had collapsed partially.

  • Almost 55,000 families affected by flooding.
  • More than 40 official shelters submerged.
  • Many people required to relocate again.

Aid Distribution Seen as Insufficient

Agencies have increased deliveries of tents, bedding and clothes after the truce began, but they stress there is still not enough aid getting in.

"We are working relentlessly to deliver that assistance and to allocate it, but the size of the needs is so vast that we continue to see many thousands of people and minors who are truly enduring hardship each evening," cautioned one spokesperson.

Long-Term Concerns and Ceasefire Terms

The subsequent part of the ceasefire includes plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the removal of personnel, and other conditions.

Humanitarian groups have stressed the need for "greater and continuous humanitarian assistance to respond to urgent and future requirements."

The war was triggered by an assault in late 2023. Subsequent actions have caused a high number of fatalities in the territory, based on medical data.
