History of Incidents
Since the onset of the full-scale conflict in Ukraine, a series of Russian military commanders have been attacked within Moscow.
This most recent event echoes other serious incidents, for instance:
- General Yaroslav Moskalik was lost his life in a vehicle explosion in Moscow earlier this year.
- General Igor Kirillov died in late 2024 when a explosive hidden on a scooter was detonated remotely.
While a source from Ukraine in the past connected Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such assertions are not publicly admitted as a matter of policy.
Hostilities has increasingly seen clandestine operations reaching into the center of the Russian capital.
The examination into General Sarvarov's death is still active.
