Six Individuals Detained Following 12 Million Euro Armed Raid on Precious Metals Facility in the French Republic

A team of six suspects using assault rifles and handguns detonated charges to breach the security of a gold treatment facility located in Lyon, France, resulting in minor injuries to five staff members during what is being called the most recent prominent daylight theft to occur in the nation.

The daring raid occurred on Thursday afternoon, with police forces rapidly detaining the alleged criminals and retrieving the loot valued at approximately 12 million euros (£10.5M), as stated by authorities.

Five workers of the gold refining company were slightly hurt as a result of the detonation, and three of them were taken to a medical facility for assessment, officials confirmed. Twenty-eight employees were at the location when the perpetrators raided.

The suspects, considered experienced criminals, were taken into custody a brief time later in the adjacent municipality of Vénissieux, according to investigative sources.

A female accomplice who took part in the heist was taken into custody as well, according to law enforcement.

“Six individuals who used detonations in an assault targeting a metals processing plant in Lyon, France were arrested at the scene,” France's security official declared on social media, commending law enforcement for their “firmness, rapid response and command”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were also confiscated.

The raid happened as authorities on that Thursday arrested five more suspects, including a primary suspect, in relation to the bold Louvre museum robbery.

Many investigative personnel have been searching for four perpetrators who utilized a lorry equipped with a moving lift and cutting gear to break into an upper-level exhibition space at the museum on 19 October, fleeing with precious items estimated to be worth 88 million euros.

In a different significant robbery, robbers the previous month broke into the Natural History Museum in Paris, making off with gold samples valued at more than one million dollars. A woman from China, aged 24 was arrested earlier this month in Barcelona, Spain in connection with the break-in, prosecutors stated.

This series of robberies has sparked worry in the nation regarding insufficient protection at cultural venues and other facilities containing precious artifacts.
