The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Show from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest action-packed title that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for embracing violence and mayhem with similar enthusiasm, all while presenting engaging, politically driven narratives. No wonder then that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two visionaries whose creations have exemplified all of those qualities.

What to Expect

Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' style by having a different backdrop and ensemble in subsequent series.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.

“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family continues to lift me up with their ongoing belief and support.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone program. Every instalment is a interpretation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a theme,” said Hawley. “To create a big action show that can evolve from season to season, while always examining the core of society through this complex and turbulent lens, is a dream come true. I’m eager to partner with Rob and present our mutual bold, ambitious style to the screen.”

A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
